Scholarships at Division # 2

With the passing of our Division # 2 President, Maurice Quinlan, the members of the division voted unanimously to create a Scholarship Fund in his memory. This was the birth of the "Maurice Quinlan Scholarship Fund"

Each year, the AOH, St Patrick's Division 2 awards one or more scholarships for college study at the undergraduate level. The amount and number of awards depend upon the number of qualified candidates and availability of funds. Our Division has again allotted a yearly maximum of $1500 for the Class of 2010 and will continue each scholarship for four consecutive years. High school seniors who intend to matriculate as full time college freshmen in the fall 2010 semester are eligible for consideration.

The Following Criteria Must Be Met:
1) The parent or guardian of the recipient must be a major degree member in good standing of the AOH or LAOH Division 2 for two years immediately prior to the submission of the application
2) The parent or guardian of the recipient must maintain membership in their respective division of the AOH for the term of the scholarship.
3) The recipient must continue to matriculate full time , provide evidence of satisfactory academic performance during the term of the scholarship by submitting to the Scholarship Chairman a transcript reflecting grades received from previous academic year along with a copy of the next semester's schedule indicating a full time listing of classes

Each candidate for the award shall submit a completed application by April 12, 2010.

The Selection of the winners will be based on the following:
1) High School Average. Rank in Class. SAT scores
2) Activity by the applicant and his/her parent or guardian in Division2 as follows:
        a. Attendance at meetings
        b. Participation on committees
        c. Support of Division 2
        d. Length of continuous membership
3) Letters of recommendation from his/her pastor and guidance counselor
        a. Candidate will supply the names and email address of each to the Committee Chairman who will then explain the format to those making the recommendation.
